6 features that make the iPhone 16 series extremely secure

When it comes to iPhones, they are often recognized for standout features such as their camera, fast performance, and large display. However, Apple’s smartphones have developed powerful security tools over the years.
Here are six security features that bring true peace of mind with the iPhone 16.
1. Emergency SOS – With and without satellite
Emergency SOS has been available on iPhones for years, but a more recent improvement is the introduction of Emergency SOS via satellite. This means that even without WiFi or cellular service, you can still contact emergency services in supported countries.

Apple has integrated a demo into iOS for the iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16 Series, allowing users to practice using this feature before they need it in a real-life situation.
2. Emergency assistance via satellite
In addition to calling emergency services, Apple has partnered with AAA and Verizon to offer Emergency Assistance when users have no connectivity.
This is another valuable feature that users should explore before they actually need it.
3. Satellite Messaging
Building on Emergency SOS and Emergency Assistance via Satellite, Apple introduced Satellite Messaging with iOS 18, allowing users to stay connected with friends and family when WiFi or cellular service is unavailable.
Shortly after its launch, this feature helped save multiple lives during Hurricane Helene.
4. Crash Detection
This feature is automatically enabled on iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16 (as well as Apple Watch Series 8). Users can check whether it is turned on by going to Settings > Emergency SOS > Crash Detection.

In the event of a severe car accident, "iPhone or Apple Watch will sound an alarm and display a warning." If the user does not respond within 20 seconds, the device will automatically call emergency services. However, this feature requires a WiFi or cellular connection to function.
Since its launch, this feature has helped save many lives.
5. Safety Check
This feature is available on any iPhone running iOS 16 or later and is primarily designed for individuals at risk of domestic violence or similar threats. Safety Check allows users to immediately revoke location access from others—including apps—and provides guidance on performing a security review.
Users can find this feature in Settings > Privacy & Security > Safety Check.
6. Stolen Device Protection
In early 2024, Apple introduced a new security feature—Stolen Device Protection—in response to the rising number of iPhone thefts in public places, such as bars.
This feature has minimal impact on user experience while significantly enhancing security.
If you haven't enabled this feature or want to check its status, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Stolen Device Protection.
