In September 2024, Apple introduced the USB‑C version of AirPods Max, replacing Lightning and adding new color options: Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple, and Orange.
The headphones still use the H1 chip and Bluetooth 5.0, retaining pro-level ANC, Transparency mode, Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking, and Adaptive EQ—with no H2 upgrade.
The Digital Crown and noise control button offer intuitive control for volume, playback, track skipping, and Siri activation.
Weighing ~386 g, the breathable mesh headband distributes weight evenly, making it comfortable over long sessions despite its heft.
Battery life is ~20 hours with ANC on, and a 5-minute quick charge gives ~1.5 hours. The Smart Case puts the device into low-power mode and includes a speaker for Find My alerts.
The open-ear design still limits lossless USB‑C audio playback—though iOS/macOS may support it in compatible apps via wired connection.
The case remains thin and stylish but provides limited protection in a bag. Wired audio via 3.5mm or USB‑C isn't currently supported.
This update offers only minor changes: USB‑C port and new colors, not a full generational overhaul. Price remains $549 (~12.3 million ₫ in Vietnam).
